Alternative, more organic options like community networks do exist and they can empower citizens to build their own local networks from the bottom up. Panayotis Antoniadis is an interdisciplinary researcher with background in computer science, engineering, economics, human- computer interaction, and urban studies. He participates in the CAPS Projects MAZI and netCommons, and the ERC project Heteropolitics. He is active in the organization of various interdisciplinary collaborations that aim to bring together researchers, practitioners, and activists from various fields with a focus on wireless and peer-to-peer technology.
